fuel pressure gauge

my fuel pressure gauge just started acting wierd all of the sudden. when iddeling, it sits around 12-13(normal). then when i go to take off it spikes to around 17, and then down to 8-10 where it usually sits when i drive. its still working normal other than the initial spike when i take off. theres no leaks on the fuel rail or return or pump. Confused??:humm:

Is it a mechanical or electric gauge?

01quadcab 06-02-2011 09:46 PM

what brand gauges

Wirtzy 06-02-2011 10:08 PM

electrical by glow shift.

RAW 06-02-2011 10:12 PM

I'd try another gauge, even if it is just a test hose and a mechanical gauge.

Wirtzy 06-02-2011 10:14 PM

thats what i was kinda wondering if maybe the sending unit started to go bad

RAW 06-02-2011 10:19 PM

Glowshift seem to have a reputation for a lack of quality.

Wirtzy 06-02-2011 10:23 PM

they were good in there import scene or so i was told.. but then again maybe not

RAW 06-02-2011 10:29 PM

From what I can tell, they haven't found a more cost efficient way to keep quality. The price reflects their quality.

Wirtzy 06-02-2011 10:49 PM

ya i could see that. i havent seen an issue with my egt turbo or tranny tho. sending units i know are pricy and this one wasnt.. theres the cost to quality
