Tricky Cummins

Just bought a 01 24 valve cummins and just put a new airdog 2 system on it. Truck is being very tricky with starting. After installing the airdog truck would not start. Bled the lines at the injection pump and she fired right up. Drove it and everything seemed fine. Went to start it up about an hour later and would just keep cranking over but wouldn't start. Now its hit and miss on starting. Starts perfectly fine right away in the morning but is tricky after being driven.

I have been told plenty of possibilities of possible problems including air leak somewhere in fuel system, possible bad charging system, bad vp44 (fingers crossed i don't need to drop cash on a new vp44)
Any ideas of possible problems??

How did you mount the AD Draw Straw

Does your Adreanaline tell you fuel psi? If so, what is it pre-starting, and during cranking. Does the fuel pump run for a second as soon as you turn the key?

How much fuel you have in the tank and what is the fuel pressure.

Full tank right now. Do not currently have a fuel pressure gauge, have one currently on the way. New pump does engage when i turn the key on. Fuel is present at the injection pump and even up to the injectors. Started plenty of times today. Drove it to work and started fine after work. Tried starting it about 2 hours after getting home and cranked it over and over. 5th time was the charm and she started fine

sometimes parking either up/downhill will do this too... i always give mine plenty of time to get pressure built up.... before starting... it does sound like an air leak somewhere though..

well found my air leak and got that patched up. had a friend scan the truck and pulled a few codes and are now erased. will see if any pop back up because I'm pretty sure injection pump is on the way out. :argh:
