Tranmission has me ready to drive truck off a cliff.
 

Hey all,
I have a 98 1/2 24 valve thats giving me fits and I hope somebody here can help me out. in the last year I've gone through four transmissions and its been in the shop over 7 cummulative months. The Previous Owner took the stock tranny cooler out of it and put a hydraulic oil cooler that is wayyy big. (out of a d7 dozer ). I took out this monster cooler because I think it was so big it wouldn't allow air through it because the tranny was always hot. I just recently installed a mishimoto tranny cooler with a electric fan and took it out for a test run and after 15 minutes and the temp gauge was buried at 260 degrees. ever since i've owned the truck the temp has always been hot even with the new transmissions. It was just flow checked and tranny was flushed with new filter. I don't want to burn up this one as the tranny shop let me know this is it they won't warranty this one. Any advice?

I put a performance transmission cooler from carquest in addition to the mishimoto cooler. Both are mounted in front of the ac condensor like the instructions say to. It helped a little bit but after driving around for 15 minutes my gauge says 250 degrees before I shut her down at the house. I have autometer gauges in the truck but I didn't tap the stock pan. I used to have an ats pan but on the last tranny the shop couldn't get it to seal so they put a stock pan back on it. i have the probe in the test port on the back passenger side of the tranny like where the edge juice says to put theirs. After I got to the house I put it in neutral and felt the fluid on the dipstick and it felt warm but not 250-260 degrees. maybe 150 if I had to guess. I also felt the tranny pan and the coolers and they also felt warm but not cooking. In my previous transmissions the gauge was always pegged and one day towing a trailer it started slipping so I pulled over and ran water over the cooler. After it cooled down i drove it home and took it to the shop to have it flushed and fluid changed. They have flowed checked it before and said everything was great and everything was functioning like it should. Now I'm starting to wonder if my probe is reading off but it seems to be functioning like it should. The tranny has a two disk tq, kevlar bands, upgraded valve body and billet planetaries. The only thing performance wise on the truck is my edge comp box, bd exhaust manifold, five inch exhaust, fass 150 fuel system. I plan on doing twins and injectors in the future but this tranny is kicking my butt right now........grrrrrrrr:argh:
