rim back spacing?

i have an 01 dodge 2500 with six inch lift and i need to figure out how much back spacing i can have becuase i run hummer tires but id like to run the two piece rims with them as they are cheap and the right rim for the tires. i just don't know how the back spacing will effect my turning or driving it..im not specificly sure of the back spacing but a friend has told me i need to figure that out before hand.. has anybody ran them or know what the backspacing is and how that would affect the handling of the truck? thanks!

I found the best thing for this without having a butt load of different tires around to try. Go get some 1" strap aluminum bout 6ft. Drill holes to mount to lugs. Mark out the diameter of your wheel diamiter so find half way mark. so if you have 16" rim 8"on each side those will be ur first bends. Now guesstimate what you think your backspacing will be or what you want. from that first bend right after the bend where its straight measure out your back spacing. nowbend the rest of the material left. now take the overall dimension of your tire/wheel combo to cut the excess off. now if youtake if off and look at it you should have made what looks like a top hat with the same overall dimension of your tire/wheel combo. attach it to the lugs with lug nuts. Of course your tire should be off during all of this with jack stand in place or jack so truck is level. Start truck and turn wheel full left and full right. Now this may take 1 or 2 tries for figuring out your backspacing but its allot cheaper than buying the wrong rims and a restock fee. This has always worked for me.

the best way to run those 16.5's are to just get the rims re-centered
then you can set your own back spacing and not worry about it

its what i run on my 84 chevy and their great because their cheap:tu:

id call up an offroad shop if yall have one local and im pretty sure that they could help ya out
