air ride or traction bars? help
i have been debating for months on this... traction bars to kill wheel hop or suspension change completely... any help would be good i dont want anything to get into a bind either and i hear traction bars can cause this.. so here is similar to what i wanna build since i have the bags already...RD975D-4

I would do bars if it was mine. If you make a longer setup and use quality heim joints I 99% sure you will never get them to bind on you
|
i custom built mine in the shop and have never had an issue ride is still the same and it launches straight off the line everytime. only thing is if you haul heavy trailers you need to remove them or it can push the suspension in a harsh way and could bend something or break it.

Not if you design it with a pivot up front...
|
thats what ive been lookin at is building the with a pivot up front just need ideas and pictures to look at
|
the thing about a pivot is that on a high hp truck it will still let the axle wrap and hop off the line. and even with a pivot like i said a heavy trailer will cause them to bind up. and if it has enough pivot to where it wont bind loaded then it is pointless to have them cause they are not keeping the axle in place.

Here's the setup I was talking about Glacier Diesel Power - Product Detail
Also how come when my friend pulls his truck with unblocked suspension and traction bars no binding bending or breaking occurs? |
well one reason is thats not cosidered by me as a heavy load. a heavy load is 16000 or more. and still like i said earlier suspension setups like that will allow movement but will eliminate wrap but it can still cause hopping off the line. i know i tried that kind of setup and the truck would hop on a high boost launch. the axle wrap is reduced with these setups but i promise you they can still force their way forward under high hp trucks. mine has to squat over 4 inches before anything even begins to get tight, im not saying all of them do or will every trucks gonna act different with them im just saying from experince what ive seen and what is possible to happen.
