idle lope

Hello Men! I'd like to know what makes a diesel engine lope like a built gasser. Also, does it have any performance benefits, or is it just for a performance sound?

Usually its just from oversized injector lines which you really wont need unless you're really into sled pulling or racing. Monster pumps makes an aftermarket VP44 that has a lope to it.

You can build a 1200hp truck that doesn't lope...

Alot of times a hot rod pump or especially monster pumps can have kinda a lopey idle. But sometimes they wont as well. Also alot of times in a gasser a cam helps give it a lope but with diesels we dont see that effect

I have Scheids Lightning VP44 and it has a little bit of a lope. It only does is in nuetral or park, when I put it in gear it smoothes out. I like the way it sounds sure gets peoples attention.

How about this truck.....

There's nothin wrong with that. It does sound mean. My hrvp44 and 150 inj don't lope at all, smooth sailin at idle.

Yessir! I haven't heard it live, but I've seen the Monster pump video on Youtube. Sounds mean!

its all in your setup and injectors lines and pump combo if it lopes or not. i have a version of the monster pump .093 lines and 6x.018 injectors with a big cam in the truck and mine idles smooth as glass. every once and a while she'll lope but clears out after just a second. to be honest i dont think i would want mine loping like that cause for one its mechanical injectors loping like that beats on the nozzel pretty hard.

thats cool i always wondered what made them do that sounds pretty cool but i would have to agree with bandit have to be kinda rough on things

It's not a gasser, it shouldn't lope like one either. Causes are usually oversized fuel lines, crossover tubes, or failing VP or injectors.

That truck sounds like it's about to die. I've heard lopes but THAT seems to be overdoing it to me! (Just my opinion)
