Need an answer FAST

Bought Air Dog 150 and the instructions that came with it tell me to drill a 1 1/8" hole in tank and use the 90 degree tube supplied, however I watched install on you tube and they re-use the in tank lift pump housing. Planning on doing this tomorrow and need to know which way to install? Also, believe I purchased kit to re-use pump housing. Is one better than the other? Thanks

i would use the draw tube they supplied. thats how we did mine

the solid one with 90 degree bend, where I drill 1 1/8" hole? is that soid rod set to length or does it need to be cut? saw in the old instructions tube was plastic and needed to be cut to length. Thanks

it needs to be cut to length... but be sure to suspend the tank off the ground with a little fuel in it b/c the plastic will sag a good bit.. measure it and cut it and leave about an 1/8 of in inch from the bottom to let the fuel in.. i just did mine last weekend easy as pie :rocking:

dont cut it too short or you will have serious 1/4 tank issues

Ok I will go that route. Maybe I'm not thinking rt but wouldn't fuel come out of the holes in the top of the lift pump where the old fuel lines used to hook up if I went that route?

plug them off with caps or pieces of hose:w2:

yep, to help set your depth, use 2 quarters stacked up while the tank is suspended in air with some fuel in it, cut a little off at a time until the draw straw just slightly touched the top quarter. Remember to just cut a little at a time, or measure and mark how much you need to cut. I did this and Ive never had any 1/4 tank issues, even pulling the steep hills and grades that I run routinely.

ok I am finally trying to install this thing and have two different sets of instructions. one says I can't put return line into filler tube to fuel tank. however I was supplied the tee to cut into that. also the line from the vp44 that I am to disconnect goes into the bottom of the fuel filter, is that bypassed by the air dog? I am confused about the electric hook up as well. I need to reconnect the existing pump so my fuel gauge works so how does the air dog connection allow for that?

The return line can go into the filler tube with the tee provided. I did it at one time before my Vulcan Draw Straw V.
The fuel flow can go directly from the AD, to the VP if you wish. I plumbed mine to the factory filter canister for extra filteration, and fuel heater.
The connector needs to be on the fuel sending unit (on the tank) for fuel level. Look on the left side of the engine, near the back, and about where the head and block meet. Your looking for a 2 wire connector that comes off the engine harness. My guess is it is plugged into the factory "upgrade" harness, and running to a relay. This is the plug you need to plug into the AD harness.
