t case... rebuild or upgrade?

I think that my t case is what is making that stupid klunk when I let out the clutch to take off, put new u-joint, new straps... still the klunk. What to do... should I upgrade to a bulletproof np205, or rebuild the junka$$ np241 it came with? Anything useful would be appreciated.:w2:

have you checked the tranny mount to see if it was broke or loose. we had one in the shop this week that broke the bolts in the mount making the same clunk your talking about. and the np241 is a great case its stong as nails, i wouldnt recomend the np205 on a diesel

I agree you should def look close at your mount, it wouldnt take much slack there to make a thunk when you drop the clutch.

why not the 205 on a diesel? the chevy cases that came behind the th400 had 32spline input and outputs front and rear... imo you cant getmuch better than that cast iron tank of a t-case....we've run them in everything from my daily driven bigblock longbed to dads old mud racer and never had an issue with them

find the source of your issue first. I have abused my t-case for 2 years and it's still going strong. 2 years of 488-683 hp and drag racing. I know guys running in the 10's on the 241 dld so I would not worry about running this. best way they go is with a flung u joint and cracking the case.
