This may be a fluke that it's helping. It really shouldnt. The pump wont "draw" more amperage than it needs and the pin 7 is a 12v, then entire pump is 12v (unless it switches deep inside) so regardless of the fact it's hooked to the battery, any reduced power will effect the pump in a negative way.

4. Yep, that 3 prong pin, the number 5 refers too, And we can hook to it too! I figured you had inline 5, The cummins program. There's alot of small shops that have it, if you can find one, you can really figure this out in minutes . Cummins Inline 5

Finding the correct adapter for these trucks (dodge dealers will sometimes have a miller plug that came with DRBIII that will plug in) can be a pain but I promise inline 5 will read it.

I should have explained in my original post, DATA LINK = Data from and too the Ecm...Doh..... Inline 5 = Software to read data link data, converter for converting can bus data to usb, serial (hopefully captin crunch), etc etc etc lol also includes the needed abilitys to write the ecm. I vote this is where all the "tuning" started out at, I'm sure the big dogs are using another type of interface now, but I vote it all started here.

From looking at it the ecm absorbs some of the noise from the electrical system or suppresses it which means it would "regulate" the hot to the vp. You could try a noise filter as well. It might help

1. I have a brakeout box I forgot all about that lol

2. its fused at 40 amps and running 8 gauge wire

4. that is awesome did not know that was an option think I will buy that one on ebay good link there!

I have thought about a noise filter hmmmm off to the parts house I go

We use Ideal crimps with a miller die, It works great on factory pins like ECM/PCM wiring. Solder works great on stuff out of the plugs, but little pieces of reminent solder can fry a PCM or ECM in a hurry. Besides...I'm lazy, with that Ideal Crimping tool, the wire will break before it pulls out of even the cheapest connectors! lol

so I messed around with this thing last night and I unplugged the batts all night to see if maybe something would reset - no change

unplugged the alternator as someone said the "noise" it makes can interfere with things - no change

putting a load on the system (now what I mean by this is running EVERYTHING that I could at once I had the rad fans, heater on high, all lights on high, radio and subs blaring when all this was going on the volt gauge dropped down to about 8 and the motor smoothed out 100% started turning things off and it got progressively worse)

what dose that tell you?

oh and i put the brake out box on the pump and it runs fine

What are the sensor 5 volt leads running

If It's running above 5 volts it could cause a miss or the voltage step down in the ecm could be off, the lower voltages just don't make sense, components just don't generally use more juice than they need if their working correctly ( in theory). A carbon pile might help eliminate the guessing as to exactly what voltages and amps this occurs at. Maybe the ecm isn't happy with the externally regulated 1st gen.(didn't see how your regulated to lazy to scroll up)
