are you talking about the 5th gear nut backing off the shaft? if so have you tried tack weld the nut to the shaft.

Put a newer style nut on it. It will be split with a set screw in it. A friends came loose 3 times in a month and he installed the newer nut and not had anymore problem in 4 years. And you also need to tighten it as tight as you can get it. If you think you got it tight enough get it tighter.:c:

It's not the lock nut...that's already been upgraded. its the 5th gear clutch ring, right under the lock nut...#73 on here

i ripped the teeth off my clutch cone not too long ago. i dont know if quad4x4 would have any type of after market piece but they sell a replacement. it just seems like a poor design to me that they would make 14 ( or however many are on it) splines 1/4" long hold that power... only thing i can say is try to be easy on 5th gear. i've started leavin mine in fourth alot more cuz im gettin way too good at pullin the transfer case outta my truck :argh:

that's exactly what happened. Twice in 4 days. There are CHEAP aftermarket parts. And the OEM replacement is redonkulous expensive, but must not be that great, I just shredded 2 of them. Is there an aftermarket upgrade?
