Weird vibrations

Hey guys. I have a issue because as I'm driving the whole truck starts vibrating from 65-70 mph. Over or under those speeds I do not feel it. It does bother me quite a bit. Another side question is should there be oil in the intake side of the turbo, and are there any sounds I should try to hear out of the turbo? Thanks in advance! John

could be either hubs or a driveline issue or even an out of balance tire or a u joint. Are you running an aftermarket air filter? if so, is it an oil'd one such as K&N or S&B? K&N filters are real bad about oil being sucked out of the filter by the turbo, had it happen real bad on my 99, actually caused the grid heaters to catch fire from it one time. luckily I noticed it right way and got it out without losing the truck but i had to replace the intake and grid heater and all the cables. So in my opinion, if youre running a K&N of any type or really any oiled filter, get it off there, sell it and get a dry filter. i believe AFE makes a dry reuseable filter/cold air kit now:c:

U joints!!! My truck was doing the same exact thing and then the u joints on the front drive shaft went out. Check them before you tear something up good! :s:

Yes, Check your u-joints. I had the 3 rear ones replaced last November, and now having another rear one replaced today.

Smoke'em and stodg73 - about how many miles on the truck when the u-joints needed replacing?

Thanks

stodg73 02-01-2011 04:24 PM

8,000 miles for this one.

Ive had right around 6 sets of rear u joints in my pickup. But mine was mostly do to hauling way to much weight and axle wrap as well I think. But check all the u joints, and other front end components as well

I have a BHAF in the truck. The vibration gets worse going up hill or when I give it some throttle.

That shouldnt be it. How many miles on the ball joints and front end components?

Alot of the front end stuff was supposedly replaced by the previous owner before I got it. U joints could have up to 214k :w2:

What is the best way to check u-joints?
