my bad on posting 3 hours at 100, i meant to put 3 hrs at 200.

even if it takes the shop 10 hours, they should go by the book. iirc, it calls for 1.7 hours to put one on it. so the shop should what ever extra time it takes. thats how we do it here where i work. thats how dodge does it also. justthe stealership charges more

i think 1600 is high for just a standard pump as well. cold or not there is no way i would pay that for someone to put a pump on. i charge 185.00 to install one at my shop. i couldnt sleep if i charged that. they arent even lubing you up when they bend you over the counter.

Thats what I thought... Biged you have the manual that shows 1.7 hours? I'll PM you to see if I can get a copy or something from you so I can take it in to them. I've done them on tractors in less than an hour... So I know exactly what to do, granted there is less room under the hood of a truck, but $200 per hour is ridiculous.

man i work out in the cold everyday! im a mobile mechanic on heavy equipment and where it breaks down is where i fix it , if you were closer i would do it for ya for $200 right where it is . i changed my buddy's right on the side of the highway! once you have done one its pretty easy after that. $600 seems an insane amount for that to me

I have done a VP44 swap on a Excavator in a hour, but access to the pump is a little better then a truck.

torpedo heater whats that haha, last injection pump i changed was on a cat telehandler and it was -15 outside, that was one misserable cold nasty day! wish i had a torpedo heater that day! but realy to the op, if it were me i would look at renting one or something, last time i rented one i got it for 2 days for $30-$40 or something like that can't quite remember, but thats a heck of a lot cheaper than $600! they are simple to change and on youtube under dieseldan or something like that there is very informative in depth videos on how to do it! i watched them for my first one, now i think i can tackle it with my eyes closed! the vp is one of the easiest ip i have ever changed! just trying to save you a couple bones for more mods on your truck
