I don't know but I guess I have an 01.5 then. I don't know if there is a difference in housing or axles. but I do know a 70 and 80 have the same brackets, calipers, and pads.

You may have a bad proportioning valve :c:

i had a 94 12v - the auto adjusters (drum brakes) would over compensate and cause the rear axle to drag rubber... get the moving parts moving freely. they sell rebuild kits( if your parts are corodded and nasty) for dirt cheap. other than that i'd say your proportioning valve is wacked or loopy....

Does yours have the load sensing brakes? Where there is a valve that is connected from the axle to a valve mounted on the frame? This applies more brake force to the rear when your loaded down. My truck stops KILLER when its loaded. Not so hot when not...
There were people rigging the valves to make the rear stop more. By either changing the rod length, taking the rod off and tying the valve UP! Or maybe yours is broken or bad?

no load sensors on the early second gens(94-97).... i lifted my 98.5 and made the adjutments to my load valve equal to the height of the lift, no problems...

I'll have to check the load sensing. I know that my brakes aren't contaminated, and i guess my truck does stop A LOT better after i drive it around for a while, but the ABS still has never kicked in since i've owned it :humm: I'm getting pretty good at pumping the breaks really fast though lol

kroberts 02-08-2011 12:42 AM

im not 100% on that but i have it, and two other gearheads i know also have it in their 01s.. my 05 gasser 1500 had antilock rear but that was it. it might depend on the model.??
