Your billet although the same size will not fit the 5600, you can sell it and the trans to offset most of the cost. I got my 5600 as a core for 1200.00, all it needed was the 5-6 syncro, fixed it and she runs like new. The key is to have good fluid and make sure you put a filter on it to keep it that way. Although the 5600 is more expensive to fix it is is much stronger than the 4500, although people say parts are hard to come by, i had no trouble finding anything i needed for it. I would say go for it if you can, call the salvage parts yards and pick up a decent core that is not in pieces, unless you can get a deal on a good used one. Let me know if i can help you out.

I was thinking when I swapped my 5600 out for a 47re we also swapped out the rods because the the one from the automatic truck was shorter than the one from the 6 speed. I realize you can adjust it some but I still think there is a difference in length.

Cool thanks, bummer on not being able to use the input. Guess I will have to call my mechanic sometime and see what he thinks it may cost me. Thanks again guys:tu:

Oh yea, how do I tell which crossmember I have?

You crawl under the truck and look.

Wow, never would have thought of that:argh: I mean what does the other one look like? As in is one of them so many inches wider than the other?

The other one doesn't have 4 slots.

Well mine was a 6speed to start with so not 100% about the length of rod since i never had to cut mine just loosen bolt and slide it. You can easly tell by looking at the bottom of it, you will see the two bolts for the mount, if you dont have the extra 2 slots to move mount then it is the narrow one, i believe it is about 12"-14" wide and the 2 slot one is only about 10", you will tell once you look at it. You will have to shorten rear shaft and lengthen the front shaft.
