i like the status whit. thats great.... and im not sure on the one percent thing but i know they arent bad motor. cummins would not have put it out if it was junk. i know of atleast 6 guys i run around with and none of us have ever had a problem with them. the only way they crack is when they are miss treated and abused. like let freeze in extreme cold the started, a block heater when not in use goes a long way. i all is basic mantinence, keep a check on the ability of the antifreeze make sure its strong enough for the cold of your area, and if the truck is cold or hasnt been plugged in, dont drive it or rev it up till it warms up to atleast 130-140. i wont move mine till the operating temp hits atleast 140. even when its 100 degrees outside. might be a little overkill but when a new engine can cost over 10 grand just in parts there is no such thing as to carefull.

ya i hope its a good truck i was thinking about trading my 97 twin turbo for it what do yall think??

banditsdiesel 01-16-2011 11:43 AM

personally i would hope you are kidding. i wouldnt trade ole reliable for one that has several flaws the mechanical pumps dont have. if i knew then what i know know i would have most deffinatly bought a 12 valve. dont get me wrong i love my vp44 truck and the ability to tune it with electronics. but there is just so much more you can do with mechanical injection.

ya know i love my 12 v its only got 141 miles on it got alot of work done to it i just hate it cause its not 4x4 ;(
