01 ball joints
 

Has any one used XRF ball joints ? I have replaced all four of mine within the last year in a half. Napa brand junk ! The XRF have a million mile warranty just wondering if their that good.

I put XRF on the '01 a couple of months ago. Handles well. Too early to tell how they will hold up, but they certainly are beefy! :c:

I had my balljionts replaced about 2 months ago the shop where i get all the work done put balljoints from Napa. their the McQuay Norris, extreme duty ones, they have grease zirks on them and about 90 bucks a piece. so far so good. They said they are made of better material so they will last longer? which ones did you get fom Napa? I wanted to go with XRF brand but noticed that the bottoms ones didn't have zirks in them. I prefer to have zirks in all the front end movable parts.

Mine were the same . The roads around here are not the worst !!!! I also run a 315 / 70r16 tire Ive replaced almost every thing in the front end tie rod ends, wheel bearings, ball joints twice .

Question; whats the correct way to check if balljoints need to be replaced? sometimes the steering in my truck seems loose other time its feels tight? weird! i just had all 4 balljoints replaced. installed a steering box bracket with a external bearing, have an awesome fox damper shock-the aluminum one with oil and 100 psi nitrogen, the ties-rods check out ok still feels tight, just that when im driving the wheel tensions feels loose and other times tight? when i get some extra money i'm defiantly going to up grade to the 2009-10 cross-over steering set-up from Source Automotive. i checked out a steering set up on a 2010 2500 MAN! are those thing beefy. i run 265/70/17 on 3rd gen alum. wheels. michelen. the tires press. front are 67psi, rear is 55psi, read that it helps with traction and doesnt beat the hell out of front end if you lower the press. also i baby the truck and make it a point to miss potholes in the road. its paid for and i want it to last. thanks.:tu:

The guy at napa told me to lift up the truck where the tire is off the ground. Take a pry bar and put under the tire then pry up if the top ball joint has play in it then repace it. The bottom one is a little harder to check sence they already have play in them from the factory. JUNK!!!!!!

I've tried that a couple of times. Can't see a play in them. I have read that large tires can cause the front end to wear out. especially it can take out the unit bearing if u hot rod around corners. I guess you could always buy the billet ball joint by dynotrac, for 600.00! I'll problemly have to replace the steering box sometime. i'm also looking to up grade the control arms, that will help tighten up the front end! even though i dont have a lift or plan to put one one. i like to park it in the garage.

The only thing I would ever put in the front end of anything is Moog. I have always had good luck with their products including my truck. Stay on top of greasing them and you will be all set. While your in there its not a terrible idea to do your axle u joints either.

Hmmm sounds interesting. I wonder if they offer offset balljoints. My axles tubes are a wee bit bent after having a little too much fun at the beach one day.
