Man did i have one hell of a day.
i went to southern california today to drop of a few motors and trans'

right rear turn signal blew
injector #3 at VP leaking
Stuck on the grapevine cause of the VP/injector leak
steering wheel audio control both up and down volume makes the volume go up
Cruise control was working on the way down but doesnt work on the way back up
Heat/Vent controls not working.
the heat stays on vent no matter where the **** is. however it does turn off the fan if you turn it to off. Any other position it does the same thing.

So guys.. this is what i need help w/

Could having a load of diesel spill all over my engine cause any of the electrical gremlins? other than the turn signal which i hope is just a bulb.

but i need help w..

cruise control - it does turn the light on but will not set
heat / vent / fan control - is it a switch issue or could it be something else?
steering wheel audio - how can i even test this?

what turned into a quick turn and burn ended up taking all day after i've been up 24 hrs.. i tow w/ the rig a lot and need help. Need to make sure this is reliable..

the injector line is fixed but apparently the fitting that attaches it to VP totally backed out

 

Have you the grounds on the wiring harnesses? Senn if any part of the harness has excessive wear on it causing some weird stuff?

 

Checked your vacuum - I think the vents are controlled off that

 

yeah i heard that heat and cruise are controlled by the vacuum. and the vacuum pump is directly beneath that leaky injector so the diesel could of caused some hoses to blow out

 

Sounds like a vacuum hose came off. Or the diesel ate through it which can happen.

As far as the steering wheel control the switch probably went out. If you have a buddy that has steering wheel controls take them out and see if they work for you, if not try to find a used one on ebay and see if that fixes it for you.

 

Pretty sure he is right. On the passenger side of the firewall there should be some hoses there that control the selection of the vents.

alrighty.. everything is fixed!!!!

the hose from the vacuum pump going out was done.. apparently diesel ate it all up.

put new hose on and cruise and heat works great
