Oil leaks ???
I have a 2002 dodge ram 2500 24v and I have a lot of oil leaks on it right now. I am going to pull and reseal the motor after christmas but I want to know if anyone knows if too much boost can cause oil leaks? When my chip is on level 5 I can put out 40psi boost max. Thanks

Shoot there is 100's of trucks on here with more boost and zero leaks, and a few with less and mega leaks. Most of the leaks are the front covers and the turbo drainback gasket on bottom of turbo. They can be fixed without engine pull. From drivers seat right front (passengers side) leak is turbo and further forward near front of engine (usually passenger side too) is the front covers. If at back of the engine- then engine pull might be necessary. Good lk my friend.

Thanks for the reply and the oil leaks are from every where possible the front covers the rear main the oil pan and maybe more.......

Moose0199,
If it covers the rear main and the oil pan, it might be coming from the tappet cover. This cover is on the drivers side and is the length of the motor. It has a gasket that over time will fail. Not too hard of a job to replace, just time consuming. I would give it a good cleaning and then then start looking for the leaks. Hope you get'em all. oudive |
i hate leaks!:argh:

have you checked the valve cover gasket because a lot of times it runs down the back of the motor and makes it look like it's coming from the pan.

Well the oil is coming out of the peep hole between the trans and the motor so that is what makes me think it is a rear main and while i have the motor out might as well reseal the whole thing.
