1999 24v question.
Looking at a 5sp 24v SBQC in trade for my 97 12v. I really liked the 24v but have some worries about the 53 block. This truck will be a DD'er with very little mods. Ie. Airdog, maybe a TST or comp and gauges tahts about it. a turbo and clutch and the supporting mods.
I will not be beating on this truck just driving it. how well will a 53 block hold up to just DDing? I tow very little maybe a boat here and there. or a trailer every once an a while. no before you all lay into me about the 12v Vs. 24v thing. I know what I'm looking for and a 24v jsut fits the bill better as a DD'er and so does the QCSB over the CCLB. ps. I need to look tonight to see if its even a 53 block! |
the 53 block is really a crap shoot. some put it thru alot with no issues, others have problems right away. still others baby it and it cracks. there's just really no telling what will happen. i'm not really concerned about mine...

I talked to the guy today and he knows about the 53 block and said its not one but has some 3+ digit casting number.
but I'll still look for myself here when I get a chance |
