Need Help !!!

I have a 1999 dodge cummins it has a 4in exhaust jammer 2 injectors a air dog lift pump afe air intake and a juice with attitude. The problem i have is if i start the truck really fast and hurry and put it in drive it starts lugging really bad the other problem is if i am at a complete stop and give it gas and let off fast the truck will die? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

well on the quick start thing the best idea would be to start the truck and let it idle for a short time before you put it in drive and take off. when i start my truck and immediately put it in drive i dont feel it kick in at all. as for the other part though, i wish you luck. someone on here will guide you in the right direction though you can count on that. :tu: o and welcome to the site. :c:

what is your fuel pressure reading? did you install a drawstraw with your airdog? have you scanned the truck for codes? i would say you could have a vp problem or the 1/4 tank issue if you have a drawstraw. give us a little more info please:c:

sorry ment to say it lopes when i start it and put it in gear quick not luggs it and i dont know what a draw straw is could you explain. But my fuel pressure i have it set at 12 psi at idle.

crzycummins 11-13-2010 06:15 PM

a drawstraw is installed with some airdogs. its a tube installed in the top of the tank that sucks the fuel out and to your lift pump and to the injection pump. if you have this then you could have the 1/4 tank issue. this is when the tube is too short to draw fuel from the bottom of the tank usually when you accelerate from a dead stop too fast or slam on the brakes at a light with less fuel then the straw can pickup due to the fuel movement...i would like to see about 15psi but 12 wont hurt. what is your reading while accelerating. and any codes??

coyotekiller3 11-13-2010 08:02 PM

k no drawstraw mine hooked up to the stock one on the tank and psi accelerating is about 8 gettin on it and the only code is p0238

crzycummins 11-13-2010 08:12 PM

p0238..turbo boost press sensor low:humm: any dead pedal at all?

coyotekiller3 11-13-2010 08:25 PM

Sorry but whats that

any chance my timing could be off or need to have computers reflashed ?

dieselboy88 11-14-2010 12:51 AM

you could possibly have an intake boot loose. :humm: you might check your intake from your turbo all the way to the intake manifold and make sure theres no leaks before you start reflashin stuff.

crzycummins 11-14-2010 04:38 PM

dead pedal is when your rollin down the road and at certain times you have no pedal response. "dead pedal". anything else we should know. an intake boot leak shouldnt kill your truck just make it run a little shi**y. have you changed your fuel filter recently?

How much fuel is in your tank right now? I have the 1/4 tank issue and I have the airdog 100 hooked to stock fuel tank draw. I just keep it above 1/4 tank... Put some fuel in it and try it again

Diesel Dawgs Performance 11-14-2010 08:34 PM

Hey Brad you could install a Draw Straw to fix that 1/4 tank issue.

8 psi is low if your running an Airdog

Yeah Luke I've been planning on doing it for some time... It seems I work on other peoples trucks more than mine haha. I'll get to it one of these days... I'm sure it would up my 12 psi at wide open a few points also. With my upgrades it wouldn't be a bad idea to go with a draw straw...

Here's a fuel pickup I put together for about $20 worth a parts and no more fighting gravity to pull fuel straight up. I've had it on the truck for some years now with no issues.
