transmission

when i have any kind of load on my truck it doesnt have the get up and go like it usually would. i can have an empty trailer and it seems like the truck is having a rough time with it. but its just fine when i dont have a load on it. could it be the transmission or what? id like to think the transmission just needs rebuilt beefed up a bit for future mods that im researching. what do you guys think? :c:

Whats the fuel pressure at idle and WOT empty?

dieselboy88 11-06-2010 08:59 AM

i dont have a fuel pressure gauge that i can read on the fly. when i checked it last it was around 13 psi, which is right for stock. and when id give it gas the pressure would go down like it should

Spot checking fuel pressure is absolutely meaningless. You need a guage in the cab before you even start that truck again. Fuel pressure needs to be monitored all the time especially with a stock lift pump. Injector pumps are very expensive.

I doubt you will notice any change in a valve lash adjustment. I'd save that money and put it towards quality FASS or Aig Dog fuel pump, and a fuel pressure gauge.

ah i see. guess ima need to upgrade to a three gauge pod before long then huh. and RAWilliams my dads still helpin me till im out of college after this next summer. i gotta have either the front seal or the timing gasket changed so im just goin to have that done while its in the shop. i do hear a knock and i really dont want to invest in an other engine yet if it comes to that. :argh:

I thought that I was going to have to to either a front seal or front cover as well. Ended up being the gasket for the vacuum pump. The fan just bleaw the oil all over the place. Found it by washing off the engine, removed the fan, and ran the truck at about 2000RPM. IT took about 25 minutes before the truck was at operating temp, which was lots of time to find the leak.
