just for poops and giggles.

well the tech college that i goto has a lot of donated C7 caterpillar engines. and one of our instructors used to be a top instructor for Cat. do yall think i should try and get him to do an engine swap with that C7?? or just stay with the 5.9? :rocking: this is a just for fun thought though because i doubt it would happen. im just curious of what could happen to the truck if i did do somethin like that. id think the frame might not hold after a while but im not real sure what would happen. any thoughts on it?

Some quick research yields that the C7 is about 200lbs heavier than an ISB. Myself, I'd prefer to have a Cummins in my truck over a CAT, but then again, I work for Deere!:w2:

I think it would be really cool to swap in a Cat engine.

I think it would be cool and might take alil fab work

dieselboy88 11-04-2010 12:10 AM

yea i agree. im not sure if the frame could handle it if i was to pull a load. what do you think??

Farmboy 2.0 11-04-2010 12:12 AM

You can make the frame hold. Kinda similar to stretching and semi and double plating the frame could make it hold... But drivetrain could be a issue maybe but i dunno

dieselboy88 11-04-2010 12:21 AM

yea that sounds like a ton of work that i cant afford. i bet it would crap out on gas mileage though. :argh:

GuyWithA24Valve 11-04-2010 12:27 AM

Well i would hope it would crap out on GAS mileage lol

dieselboy88 11-04-2010 12:35 AM

fine ill correct it. :humm: MPG. :rocking: hows that haha :c:
