In tank fuel pump?
I gave Dodge stealership my vin # and they said I had an in tank fp. They have been wrong before. When my friend went to Dodge to buy a truck they told him to order the new 24v diesel but he would have to wait three months for delivery. If he was one of the first to order then possibly the first ordered did not have the intank fp. If so....possibly my fp is not in the tank. Does anyone know when dodge first installed intank fp's. Also, is there an easy way to test to see if the fp is or is not in the tank. Thank you, Kerley
How is the hell would they be able to tell that from a Vin?
Look on drivers side of the block near the back.
Theres no way a 98 came with an intank pump. They didnt come out until 03 or 04. Have you owned that truck since 98?
If the pump is in the tank there should be some wires going to the top of the tank.

[/QUOTE]I would have told you to look on the block if it was a 12 valve, I wasn't sure on a 24v where the liftpump was, thats why I said follow the lines from the tank just to be sure.
My best friend passed away in 2005 and willed me the truck. He bought it new. If the pump is not in the tank what frame installed push pump will give me the most bang for the buck. I have owned the truck five years and only driven it about 2500 miles. I don't want a hot rod truck, just real dependable and able to haul ***. Thank you, Kerley

i think in 05 they started puting them in the tanks, but when older trucks went to the dealership for lift pump problems they had retrofit kits and installed them in the tank!
thats what they did to our 03 shop truck, and the intank pump is worhless
