cant avoid workin on the pickup

hi guys well to start ill go to the top my pickup has leaked oil since i bought it usually only a quart between oil changes and its got steadely worse and after changing my oil a week ago i havent gone 1000 miles yet and im already down a quart:argh: the whole underside of my pickup is covered in oil:dang: cant tell where the leak is for sure but my dad and me have desided to rip the engine out and just start replaceing gaskets also going to replace the front and rear seal going to go to cummins for all my gaskets and such any way was wondering if anyone has tips that might make this go quicker and was also thinkin about taking pics of the whole thing anyway thanks for reading

Pulling the engine is pretty extreme to fix an oil leak.

I would steam clean it all up and keep a close eye on it for a while, should be able to pin point it.

You shouldn't have to pull the engine for any (gasket) oil leaks.

Don't forget to check the vacuum pump for leaks. It was the main culprit on my truck. There is a kit available to repair it for about $60.

Agreed to hold off on the removal of the engine, that a big job. Some car washes have an engine wash pressure setting, that is what I would use. I had a leak I couldn't find either. I washed it up really well, and still couldn't pin point the leak. I decided to take the fan off so the air wouldn't rip the oil leak all over. Turned out to be just the thing I needed, and I found a failed gasket for my vacuum pump. I did have the entire fan belt off, and was able to run the cold engine for 10 minutes before it even reached operating temperature, so there is time too look.

thanks for the replies everyone i know it sounds extreme but i know the rear main is shot and although it can be done without pulling the engine its easier with the engine out and my pickups going to be down for a while anyways for body repairs i got to replace the box cab corner and other stuff if it wernt for that i would just leave the engine in but i want to clean it up all good and paint it red but thanks for the replies and advice:c:
