Perhaps a boost leak? If it old happens under load it is probable.
|
perhaps some one installed a blower on your truck when you weren't looking ?:humm:
|
Some one put a screamin' jimmy in there!:ha:
|
Sounds like a pressure leak from somethin, be it air, boost, water or fuel. Check the hose clamps on everything. I have a fuel regulator doin this myself.
You may also need to test for boost leaks. |
how do you test for boost leaks??? could it be my injection pump bc i am goin to replace it tomorrow it just came in today!!! 1st try at it... sorry off topic.. but i looked into it further today at work and it sounds like it (hard to explain) it sounds like the turbo but a differnt pitch and when u gas it u hear the turbo and all of a suddon let go u hear it like deeper whine like ramping down!! i checked the high ram gaskets and boots and also checked the torque on the bolts

Here is a little diddy I wrote a while back:
https://www.dieselbombers.com/24-val...ke-system.html |
id say a boost leak... i heard it the other day on my truck..... then boom i blew a intercooler boot..
^^^lol^^^ a blower |
hey rawilliams u posted something about a cummins data thing a while back and under troubleshootin it says something about a coolant line from the block to heater core with a rubber washer in it could be making a moanin sound and thats what it sounds like do you know which hose it is???
|
I won't count that out as a possibility, but doubt that that is the issue. Those bullitens are for 98-99 24valve trucks. I assume we are talking about the truck in your sig, which is a 2002, and may not have this issue. Not to say that the previous owner may have made a mistake if they had to change it. If you would like to double check to be sure, it is the hose that comes off the passenger side of the head, and goes to the heater core. I believe the other line runs down towards the front of the engine, via a steel tube.
I believe this is the site you were refrencing: Ram Diesel Index This site is a wealth of information. |
yes thats the site but i dont know if im supposed to unscrew the fitting in the head or just pop the hose off!! i took the hose off and its just a nipple with a clamp on it!! and that site kicks buttt!!! hey rawilliams do u know of neone looking to sell a hx30 40 or s300 im startin to think its the turbo
|
I have a feeling the restrictor was removed on 99+ trucks for more heatercore flow. I know my rig is pretty chilly come winter. If you remove the hose, and look down the nipple you should be able to see a restrictor if there is one.
I can't say that I know of anyone selling a HX35, 40, or S300 at this time. You can always put a post in the Wanted To Buy thread. How about the other side of you air system, the dirty side. Manifold to turbo flange gasket and bolts? Manifold to head gaskets and bolts? When I bought my truck I noticed a bolt fell out from the #6 exhaust manifold flange. |
i checked every bolt to the manual that i could find!!! i have to change the vp44 tomorrow not enough time today!! but i guess ill git to see some more lines while its off..... i did take the cai off to tryin watch the impeller but couldnt rilly see it due to it spinnin soo damn fast but it becomes really noticeable when its around 1500rpm

Similar issue here. Anyone know of the fix before I go tearing into it?
Thanks |
wierd whine
I installed a new BHAF air filter on my Cummins and now I have a slight whistle too. I think It is finally getting enough air to Boogie.
