Code P0602
what is it?
|
From the service manual: P0602 = ECM Fuelling Calibration Error which means that your ECM may have bit the big one of has some type of internal error.
|
but nothing is wrong, i can turn the key a few times and it didnt show but it did with the hypertech, what would that cost for a repair if it does go south?
|
I have no idea on a cost. I dont think this is a real common code.
Anyone else have some experience and want to take a stab at it? Failing that, keep driving it - if it decides to take a dump on you there isnt much you can do about it. |
ECM through Cummins is $1400. Had a friend have to buy one, his would not go over 1400RPMs though.
|
Not sure if I am going to help or confuse you more, but with the Smarty I got that all the time and it came up as a CHECK SUM ERROR. Running stock I never got it. But here is the strange thing, since the tranny work I don't get it anymore.
Also keep in mind that mine is an 05 and I never noticed anything out of the ordinary either. |

This is what I can offer ya.
SYMPTOM P0602-ECM FUELING CALIBRATION ERROR WHEN MONITORED Ignition ON. SET CONDITION If any parameter is out of range for 1 second , a DTC is stored and the MIL is illuminated. POSSIBLE CAUSES Specific good trip counter not equal to 0 Engine control module defective If it keeps up looks like you will be buying a new ECM. I think Bob Wagner can get you one at a better deal though. |
"Specific good trip counter not equal to 0"
what is that? and i am heading out tommarow with a samurai on a 150 mile trip so we will see how it does |
Have you cleared the code? If not, clear it and see if it comes back.
|
yeah i cleared it and will check when i get home tommarow
|
I dont know what that means, that is what alldata gives. It gives directions to check it hooked up to the scanner at Dodge, might be part of that.
|
I had the same code when the smarty was programmed...it would say something like "ECM Fueling Calibration Error - normal w/ aftermarket programming"
dont quote me exactly but its only when the smarty was on |
Update...anything happening with this?
|
nope the pick up runs just fine i havent check to see if its back but if it runs fine leave it alone unless it needs to go faster. anyway i check with some onther dudes and they said that it was a voltage jump or somthing like that and if i drain the juice from the ecm and it should go away so problem fixed for now
|
Oh yeah, no need to replace parts if you dont have to. Could be "just one of those things"
|
I've gotten some error codes from playing in the snow. It would throw the MIL light and all... Well after checking the codes it was aa bunch of thing like the one above and few other dealing with the VP44 and ECM...
Reset the error codes and they never came back... So more that likely water/snow got somewhere it shouldn't of... But the point of this story is check you wiring over most owner don't keep the engine area very clean if the wiring get oil soaked it might do the same thing too. As for my truck the engine gets wash every weekend with body of the truck... And it still looks new under the hood! :w2: |
yupp my transmission just went out and it is flashing this code.. it made a pop clang and popped again..then revved to 3000. any input on what to do now would be nice as my truck is on the side of the road.
:humm: |
buy a new tranny!
