Best way to hook up a guage light
I've had my Autometer Ultra-Lite fuel pressure gauge hooked up in my truck since this winter. When i first put it in, I found a wire coming off of the light switch that only has power when the lights are turned on. So I spliced it into that and it was so dim, you could just barely tell there was any light at all. Where is the best spot to hook up the light? Should I just pull out the cluster and splice into a light there?

Your pulling off the right place, I think. A brown wire in the corner of the light control plug? I just found my AutoMeter gauges are just dimmly lit. There is 12V+ going to the bulb, but the light just doesn't sneak around the face very well.

I think thats the one, I know it was in a corner of the plug closest to the instruments. It wasn't dimly lit, you had to really look to even tell that there was a tiny bit of light sneaking around the sides.

pull the constant hot off the #9 fuse I think. I will have to look at how I did mine once my truck gets back. The wife is out getting some things. That way you have lights only when your lights or on and power when the truck is on.

i pulled my light source from the cubby above the shifter.

have you thought about changing the light and going with led...they are much brighter and seem to make their way around the face much better than the bulbs that come with the gauge.

I spliced mine up to my dash lights, so when i want to i can dim them at night if it's to bright!
