Best Ball Joints?

What would you suggest and what would you suggest to stay away from. Thanks:humm:

diesel pap 05-21-2010 09:19 PM

i like moog. i dont like mopar

mishkaya 05-21-2010 10:06 PM

I've heard that Moog no longer stands behind their warranty unfortunately...
I've also heard a lot of good from XRF, and thus far no warranty issues so I will be giving them a try for my next ball joints on the '01.

FastCR 05-21-2010 10:13 PM

Moog are pretty good quality, and if you buy crapa premium (NCP line) you get lifetime warranty.

If you have the tools and time to replace them under warranty, its cheaper. If you need something that will hold up for many many miles, you might look elsewhere.

J-Pipes 05-21-2010 10:28 PM

Dynatrac is what I'm running, got bout 15k miles on them so far, still nice and tight

Benjamin 05-21-2010 10:32 PM

say no to Perfect Circle, TRW and MOOG's from Orielys Auto. after replacing the PC's 2 times, the TRW's 2 times i went to MOOGs. Oreileys auto warranted them out once and told me it was on me after that.... i haven't found a good balljoint for these trucks yet. 90% are made in China and are crap after 6 months.

diesel pap 05-21-2010 10:46 PM

isnt that awful they dont last any longer than that. my 08 got replaced from dealer at 31k

the local dealer here denied to replace my brother's bosses' ball joints at 24K miles on his 07 back then because they said they didn't fall under the bumper to bumper 3yr/36K because they were a :":wear item:": like tires and brakes.....

FastCR 05-21-2010 11:31 PM

at least get them at napa then, every napa I know will warranty their lifetime parts. I know when people bring things in what I've been taught is if it says lifetime, it's LIFETIME. you write down whats wrong with it and put it in the warranty pile. Thats it unless it looks like its abused like someone REALLY did something wrong.

94dizzyram 05-22-2010 06:37 AM

Thanks for all the suggestions. Now I just gotta break down and buy them.:c:

Diesel Dawgs Performance 05-22-2010 02:46 PM

I'm running Moogs

94dizzyram 05-22-2010 03:38 PM

Ordered MOOGs today. I can only hope for the best. I had the option of the ones with adjustment for 130 or the stock replacement for 70. I think it goes without saying which ones I chose.:w2: Thanks for the input. I still havnt decided if I want to tackle them myself or have someone do it for me. Leaning towards having somebody do it though. Hopefully the truck will track strait after these. thanks

01quadcab 05-22-2010 06:07 PM

I currently have the napa ones in my truck. They have 2 different ones some made in china some not. Been on since nov not sure how many miles on them, but they are doing well.

Pyro690 05-22-2010 07:46 PM

I have Parts Masters on my 97, just put them in so I don't know if they are any good. They are made in USA but they could just be old stock. :c:

I got a quote to replace uppers and lowers on both sides for 200.00 :scare2: Does that sound to high. thats with me buying the ball joints at 70 bucks a piece.

01quadcab 05-24-2010 07:13 PM

sounds about right. it's not a quick and easy job.

94dizzyram 05-24-2010 07:16 PM

Damn I was afraid of that. :argh: i knew it wouldnt be easy thats why i didnt want to do it myself.

once you do it yourself 5 or 6 times it is real easy. all 4 can be done in less than an hour.... but i think the book calls for a few hours shop time.

Sorry I had missed your post. You can find them online here:
Buy Discount Performance Tires at The Tire Club | Toyo | Bridgestone | Firestone
PS
I see they are currently back-ordered; but that is where I got my set from. Should be getting them installed within the next month...

Yes I got the greaseable upper and lowers.I have 60,000+ on them and still good.

94dizzyram 05-28-2010 01:48 PM

I got the ball joints put on today. I am sadd to say however that the truck still wanders down the damn road.:argh: I dont know what to do. I guess just drive it and live with the fact that I bought a dodge. Love my cummins hate my dodge.:scare2:

AndyMan 06-04-2010 08:03 PM

You can get the XRF's in from the link in my Sig. I've had mine for over 50k miles... so far so good, but my tires are starting to wear funny. They are USA made, and the XRF guys are good to talk to.

BTW... you're wandering is from your crap steering box. about 3 bills for a new one. Get a PSC.

94dizzyram 06-04-2010 08:57 PM

I just put in my third cardone boxin about 3000 miles. It isnt binding but still has a good bit of play. I plan on getting a new one eventually. Ive already dropped to much cash in my front end to do anything else now though. I have the psc brace and it seems to be a really good product. I will check into them when I find some spare cash. :c:

F*** A1 CARDONE. All they sell is junk.

AndyMan 06-04-2010 09:04 PM

Yup. Cardone is crap crap crap. :( Sorry you got one.

I have the brace too, from back when it was called the DSS (Darin's Steering Stabilizer IIRC)... it didn't help a whole lot... A QUALITY steering box is the fix.

tearin_it_up_everywhere 06-04-2010 10:24 PM

Mine wondered all over the road after the ball joints were done. The steering box was the issue. Hope that it helps.

Scott Butler 11-09-2015 12:32 PM

I thought dynatrac only made ball joints for the 94-99 years?
