Trac bar issues
Ok so I had to put a trac bar on my truck when i bought it almost two years ago, and now it needs another one. I know the mounting spot wears away and it destroys trac bars but is there a way to solve this problem? Or do i just bite the bullet and keep replacing them?
Try giving Ken McCabe a call at 740-342-5007. He rebuilds them, he rebuilt mine about 37k miles ago and I have had no problems, it is considerably cheaper than a new bar, when I did mine in late 2007 or early 2008, it only cost me around $150 to have it done, or he will more than likely just sell you the kit if you want to do it yourself. Good luck.
A new poly bushing for the solid mount, and then he punches the guts out of the ball joint end, and sleeves that end with a cast aluminum housing, that is then assembled with the guts for a new ball joint assembly that is greasable and comes with 4 or 5 shims to tighten it back up whenever it starts to wear, although mine is still tight. If you deside to call him you'll have to wait till the morning he is working second shift this week (he changes shifts weekly), he leaves for work around 1-1:30. Tell him Jake gave you his number.
