fuel filter cap...
ok...so i changed my fuel filter today and went to put the cap back on the resivoir. heres where the problem began...i screwed it back on but it will not for anything make a good seal and leaks fuel around the contact point between the resivoir and the cap. cannot for the life of me get the thing to make a good seal. never had this problem before! any suggestions?:argh:
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- and yes the o ring is on there...:dang: |
Did you torque it down too tight and crack it?
That happens more often than you might guess. |
no sir...i torqued it to specs. im guessing for some reason the o ring is twisting or has a flat spot..something of that nature bc the cap itself is in perfect condition....:argh:
|
did a new one come with the filter?? maybe put a new o-ring on it?
|
Possibly that there is a difference in the filters themselves? Did a o-ring or packing stay down in the filter housing preventing the new filter to bottom out properly? Sounds to me that the cap isn't seating properly and not causing a seal.

If the lid's not cracked there's really only one possibilty, relating to the o-ring: Bad, missing, wrinkled, misaligned, doubled-up, etc. whatever o-ring.
|
got it...the o ring just didnt want to seat properly but were good to go now.:rocking:
