new steering box problems
 

Got my new steering box on and it had a ton of slack in it. So I adjusted it out. It also takes twice the effort to turn right as it does to turn left. ANybody got any ideas.

I loosened the bolt a little bit. I had it to tight. That helped a little bit. It still just doesnt feel right though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. To me I dont feel that I should have even had to adjust it at all. :humm:

You might have to back it off some more is all I can think of.

I am going to try that tommorow after work. Got any idea of how to set the wheel back to 12. its about a 1/4 turn off

That is easy. There is an adjustment point to the left of the steering box if you are looking at it form the front. Have someone sit in the cab loosen the two bolt the twist it forward or backwards. it will start to turn your steering wheel. Have the person in the cab tell you when it it strait.

Make sure the steering wheel is unlocked before you start.

Thanks I will try that for sure. The rep from A1 cardone(the company who rebuilds the boxes) said for me to disconnect the pitman arm and the steering linkage and turn the shaft with a pair of vise grips with the truck running. I think he is trying to make sure it is not something else in the front end. The truck didnt do that before so I guess I am going to just get another box. Thanks for the help 01 trailerpuller. :c:

I got another box coming tommorow. I am going to keep my fingers crossed.

Got the new box and it is all:tu:. Now gotta get a brace to keep it that way.
