No 1st or OD only 2nd & 3rd.

I replaced my batteries Saturday and after that I only have 2nd & 3rd gears. No 1st or OD. Is there something electrical wrong?

Did anything short out while replacing them? There isn't a logical reason for a simple battery replacement to cause transmission issues. If a ground was missed it may cause issues. Maybe try unhooking both grounds and let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes and try it again. Remember to relearn your APPS after hooking the batteries back up.(Key On, Engine Off, slowly depress accelerator pedal all the way to the flow, and back up. Turn the key off, then back to normal operation.)

Keep in mind this is a '96, does the apps still apply?

Oh, the year is not listed anywhere in this thread. With that being said, this is in the wrong section of the Dodge's.

I take it you have a 46RE or a 47RE with an electronic governor and a TQ converter lock up switch. You could have a bad ground check all terminals at the battery connection the PCM also gets its power from the pos terminal and it is a fused circuit in the power distribution center. The truck has a TPS to give throttle position to the PCM. Also check to see if your TV cable broke or came unhooked?

I'm pretty sure it is a 47RE.I would disconnect the batterys first for 20 mins. Then reconnect and drive it around. You could have bad new battery to,take a voltage reading on the batterys independenly( with out them hooked up).If the ends on the cables look bad change them, these transmission are very sensitive to voltage reads.

It is a 47RE, and 1 of the batteries was very weak - I did not know this when I put them in. I had to jump start the truck afterwards.

I pulled the pan and changed the fluid & filter, disconnected the batteries while doing so, and now it works fine.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's stick or auto, I've had trouble. I guess I'm charmed! :)
