01 cummins has no power

My Dad has bought an 01 dodge 2wd reg cab automatic.
It will barely pull itself. Air Filter and Fuel Filters are good, he replaced the fuel pump and still no power. It drives ok going slowly but when you stomp on it it is dead.... No codes either.. Any ideas?

I also bought him a quadzilla for it and it made no difference. He is running with no cat and no muffler as well.

did you scan it with a scanner? sounds like APPS or maybe VP-44.

BTW, 01's never had a cat. It was a resonator.

could be your injectors, mine was kind of that way, worse when it needed a vp44 too. BTW stop putting gas in it they take diesel:dang:

Hard to believe no codes showed:humm: I'm still thinking VP-44. No fuel pressure gauge either? I would definitely look into getting one on that truck if he doesn't have one. Very well worth it:tu:

The APPS usually always throws a code. Do you notice the dead pedal at a certain throttle position?

dennhop 03-25-2010 05:16 PM

yup, sounds like a dead vp to me too, if you don't have a fuel pressure gauge, two things you can do. you can disconnect the line coming from the stock lift pump going to the vp, and bump the starter, and see if fuel starts pouring out. Also, with it running, you can loosen a couple of injector lines, and see if you have fuel spraying out of the injector lines at high pressure...

Sorry!! What is APPS?

Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor, but that will almost always throw a code usually P0122

You can try a APPS reset.https://www.dieselbombers.com/24-val...ting-apps.html How many miles are on the truck?Does the no power problem do this in certain MPH?That sensor is a were item.DON'T GO TO THE DEALER! Here is a site to go to for a sensor if needed.CUMMINS THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR ('98.5-'02)-Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories – Geno’s Garage I hoping it is not a vp44 problem, but seems to point that way.
