my freind has a 02 dodge he is reading 1.8 volts from the neg post on batt to the raditor?

Check the two neg cables coming from each battery to the block.What type of volt meter are you using?

we have checked all cables and i am using a fluke meter also removed inline fuse and disconnected all others and could read contunity between hot and body

Is this causing a problem? Fuses, erratic gauges or controls. A little more information would be very helpful.

dead batterys in the morning no other signs gauges ok all controls are good we have been hauling scrap metal to the scrap yard that is when it started could the magnet they use to unload the metal change the polatity of the batterys ? we have disconnected the main computer to see if it was bleading out that way and no luck

How about leaving the batteries unhooked overnight? Or even for a few minutes, the reconnect the ground. Watch for a spark when connecting, and the size of the spark. Since you have a good multimeter, check for parasitic drains. When I do such a thing this is what I do:
Have battery connected, only one, then attach the meter to the battery, and the ground cable. Set meter to Amps, and put the leads in the proper places. Remove the negative cable from the battery, and watch the meter to see how many Amps, or Milli-Amps are being pulled. If it is higher than about 20 Milli-Amps, there is a drain to large. Start pulling fuses one by one watching the Amps. If they fall off sharply after a fuse is pulled, there is a problem in that circuit.

I doubt the magnet changed the polarity of you batteries, there would be much worse problems if that happened.

Have the batteries load tested as well.
