Steering Question

Ok... the truck in my sig currently has 96k on the clock... and it seems in the last maybe 4k the steering has become a little sloppy. Going down a straight road you can let off and everything is fine. The ball joints and tie rod ends seem tight. I have been reading about the steering shaft being problematic, or could it maybe be the steering box? I cant really afford to replace both right now. Would one be more likely to be the source of the problem than the other? And is there any way to tell for sure which it is?

Just outta curiosity do you have the steering box brace?

My truck had one when i bought it BUT i guess they make a HUGE difference. Make it track 1000% better!

my steering box causes mine to wander along the road.

negatory on the brace. That is another future purchase. But i dont think that is the problem right now, and Im still running stock size tires

If its the shaft you should be able to seee that... Just try moving the wheel with truck OFF... Then box will have no assist so youll have more stress on the shaft... Will make any movement there pretty evident.
