brakes
Ok what do i have to do to get my brake roters off the front of my 4x4 98.5 ram 2500
simple job, remove the wheel and take off the caliper with two bolts and the carrier with two bolts. You then are at the rotor sometimes they come right off but you made need to spray it up around the hub and also sometimes heat is needed but use a hammer and beat the rotor free

I have a 99' dana 60 front axle on my 2001 and the rotors are a bi##! to change ! You have to remove the caliper and bracket,Axle nut, bearing and hub assy, then carefully drive the lug studs out then bang the rotor loose from the hub. You have to rotate the rotor to clear the bearing flange and if you have ABS be Very carefull of the sensor in the bearing housing ! Good luck with it :argh::s:
Remember to remove ALL lubricants used in the process with Brake Clean. Try using a soft faced hammer BEFORE a metal hammer to prevent any damage.
can you reuse the lug studs those dam things are exspensive
I don't see why not, as long as they are not damaged upon removal. A good visual inspection, and even a measure with a verniar calipar to ensure there is not stretching would be a good idea.
If you are going to replace the rotors then by all means beat on it with a big hammer.A 10 pound mall works great. If not rubber only.
Well, I'm replacing pads and rotors. Got the wheel off, caliper outta the way, cotter pin and nut removed and lugs removed from one side, and the rotors aren't budging. I've used heat on one side and spray on the other??????? I'm stuck!!! :s:
On my D60 they just slide off. The studs are pressed into the unit bearing and the rotor just slides over them. I wonder why they did it different on different trucks. :humm:
on earlier D60's the rotor is mounted behind the hub, there are three 12point bolts that hold the bearing/hub assy to the knuckle. be very careful not to damage the bearing or ABS if you have it those babys are expensive ! read my earlier post for a little more info.
