Ohhhh she's a big runaway!

Sorry for the song referance.
Got in the truck a bit and and backed out.. Touched the throttle and off it went! I had it shut off before it hit 3 grand.. Tried it a few more times.. It acted normal once but went apeshit every other time. The cable isn't sticking.. The cruise isn't doing it.. I'm kinda worried what it might be...

I read about the poor guy that went racing down the highway but this is different..

Any ideas?

APPS failure? You could try adjusting it and see what the results of that tell you.

Uncle Bubba 02-23-2010 05:55 PM

APPS or TPS are the two most likely problems. Both are testable and adjustable.

How would one go about adjusting/reseting it? I'm leaning toward replacing it.. I'm pretty much clueless with that engine. But I love it so. lol :choochoo:

Here's the APPS info: https://www.dieselbombers.com/24-val...tomy-apps.html

If you need to replace the APPS use this link for the TIMBO APPS. It's less then half the price of OEM and better quality. http://www.dodgecumminsapps.com/about.html

Thanks for the help.. I worked on a Diesel I can comprehend (old 2 cylinder JD) Oil leaked past the rings once it warmed up.. We beat the hell out of the injector.. But we bailed after a certain point..
Don't think it's possible but I don't want the same end..

Worked like a charm! Can't believe how easy that was! And free! Haha
Thank you SO much Uncle Bubba and RAWilliams!

Uncle Bubba 02-24-2010 05:23 PM

Love a happy ending. So was it just out of adjustment then.

Sounds like you had an "oh, what a feeling" event....

Don't suppose you had open gasoline containers and vapor in the area when this happened?

inevitable madness 02-25-2010 04:47 PM

Yep I guess it was just out of adjustment.. Seems like a extreme way of showing it though!

And Gear Poet.. Nah it was out in the open driveway..
