Silicone?

Anyone who uses silicone (also called called "RTV") to seal any gasket is not a mechanic and shouldn't be allowed to hold a wrench. Silicone sucks! All it does when you put it on a gasket is squeeze out all over and into the engine!!!

If you're a REAL mechanic use Aviation Permeatex, That gooey black stuff that comes in a plastic container with brush inside. Permatex will bond and seal ANY cork or paper gasket and won't allow oil to seep through the surfaces.

If you're working with neoprene o-rings or neoprene gaskets don't use anything but a light coat of oil on the rubber.

If I ever caught someone using silicone on one of my vehicles I'd kick him squarely in the balls.
