NV5600

Hey guys I found a NV5600 tranny with the transfer case for a bout $1800 it came out of an 2002 dodge ram .It sound like good deal to me what do you think? I was thinking maybe doing the conversion to this tranny is it to complicated to do it? is it worth it ? I got a 5spd at the moment.

Sounds good. What type of condition is the 5600 in? I don't see why it would be that hard, your basically just swapping trannys. You will need special exhaust stuff though I think since the 5600s come off the high output engines. Of course maybe you dont. Someone else will know more about it so hopefully they will be able to tell you more.

Swaping from an NV4500 5 speed to the NV5600 6 speed will require a starter spacer, new clutch and flywheel. Unless you've already upgraded your 5 speed to the 1 3/8" input, then you could use your existing clutch. The good thing is that you can reuse your existing transfer case. You will also have to lenghten your front shaft and shorten your rear shaft.

Was your truck originally a 47re or 4500?

I'm putting an NV5600 behind a previously 47re equipped engine and have found varying info on the starter spacer. The guy I bought the tranny from said he had no such thing in his rig :humm:

My truck was originaly a 47RE. All Dodge/cummins w/ the NV5600 have the starter spacer. They even talked about it in dieselpower mag when they took the black dodge dually to southbend for a new clutch. They put the 1 3/8" input in the NV4500 and ran a 6 speed clutch.
