Front Differential?
I have finished a front differential oil change and I was trying to put the 4.3 quarts and I could bearly put 4 quarts .I think got in there like 3 Qt and 30 Oz ,Is that enough or is there another way to put in the extra 5 oz:humm:

If your truck is on level ground and its oozing out of the fill plug, you have enough. When it is oozing out of the fill, it means you are getting plenty of oil coverage on the bearings.

Cool thanks I did had it on my drive way wich was a little nose up so I took on level ground and it was oozing like you say so I am good .Thanks! :tu:

the axle tubes will still have some fluid left in them. so no worries

Well I kinda tilted the truck one side at a time because the oil looked like a coffe with cream and felt like water

Actually, from what I understand the level is supposed to be 1/2" below the fill plug hole. Have heard that having too much can cause the diff to run hot.

It didnt seem right to me either - common sense would cause you to think more is better.
I generally fill it to the bottom of the hole anyway. well, that sounded pretty kinky.... |
One more question guys I checked my rear diff oil and it looked like honey with small little bubbles in it I dont know if its to time to change it or not I was planning on change it anyways .I am the second owner and I bougth the truck with 141000 and rigth now I got 152500 on it and I dont know if it had been serviced or not before what do you recommend ? (planning on using amsoil on the nv4500 oil and engine oil but since amsoil its kinda expensive would like to do whats more important first the rear diff or the nv4500 )

You're on the right track bud.
Since you don't know what's been serviced, might as well start from scratch and just plan on servicing everything so you know when it's been done. As far as the nv4500 vs the diff, that's a personal choice. If it were me, i'd probably do the tranny first since it's a more expensive item and often neglected. |
