Brake Problem

Okay... the truck in my sig has a little brake problem that has developed within the last week or so. Now it doesnt do this every time, but every once in a while. When braking, once the truck gets to about 15mph or less, the abs pump kicks in and wont let the truck stop all the way :scare2: then when im about to s*@t my pants, the brakes will come back and skid to a stop. My first thoughts would be a sensor, but im not getting an abs light. I have access to a scanner but havent gotten it on yet to pull codes. Just wonder if there is maybe a simple\stupid problem or if anyone else has had this happen?

what kind of shape is your vacuum pump in and what about your vacuum hoses are they in good shape mine is doing the same thing at low rpms i am thinking my pump is in need of attention it has almost 300 hundred thousand though:argh:

There is only 91k on my truck, so I would venture to say the vac pump is ok. And am I correct in saying my brakes are run off the power steering pump, not vacuum?

You are correct they use hydroboost not vacuum assit brakes. Im thinking that it is in the hydro boost not actually the ABS side. Hows the p/s fluid condition and level?

my truck did the same thing. One top of the rear end there is a plug in for the speed sensor i un pluged it and it stops fine but the abs an break light stays on . So you could unplug this and see if its your rear speed sensor i would say thats your prob

Thats kinda along the lines of what I was thinking. Im gonna go check the p/s pump fluid first though, cause thats an easy quick step. But Im banking on that sensor being the problem.
