Valve cover gasket?

Hey guys I got a question ,I just finished adjusting my valves and when I was putting the valve cover back on I notice that there was some oil behind the engine like rigth below were the valve cover seats .I notice it because I was makeing sure the valve cover was seating rigth and I felt it so got a mirror and i did see some traces and also i looked thru the bottom of the truck and it looks like it is coming from up there .I had noticed that oil on the bottom of the trcuk rigth there by the oil pan but I thougth it was from the crankcase vent.So my question is , is it common for the valve gasket to leak from there or should I be looking for something else? :humm:

It could be leakage from when you removed the cover?? If it isn't a lot I would clean it up and recheck it.

I did clean it before I put it back and I left it idle for about 10 min and checked it and it did have oil but very little .I also heared that it could be ok if its not leaking alot (maybe normal ) so I am going to keep checking it to see what happens.

the gasket is ver tough and reusable forever as long as its not abused, get yer mirror on a stick and look in the back where it seats, there is a grove the cover fits into, make sure its in the grove all the way round, if not then adjust and all will be fine

where is a groove? we are still talking about a 24 valve right? none of the heads or valve covers I've had around have had grooves in them.
