dodge wont rev above 2000 RPM's w/ 6 speed
I finished my auto to Nv5600 6 speed swap today in my 01 Ram 2500 and when i took it out for a test drive it wouldnt rev above 2000 rpm's. It feels like it's in limp mode however there are no dash MIL lights and when I scanned it there were no DTC's. Am I going to have to get computers out of a manual trans truck or could it be something else? :humm:

:humm:Im thinkin first off you will need to get a ecm for a 6spd truck and start there

Would the ECM really cause that problem? I suppose because it is controlling the motor for an auto instead of the manual tranny, blkjack may have your solution. It should be something really simple since the 5600 is, I think, almost completely independent of the computer because it doesn't tell the transmission to shift. Maybe its a computer problem and it is the ECM as mentioned before. I would do some calling around and see what you can find out about the 6spd and see if there is a difference when dealing with the different type of transmission vs ECM/computer.

The PCM Controls the transmission. Have you Checked the map sensor and tps sensor?
It could be related to the auto to manual swap but it would throw a code most likely. |
try the tps sensor when i ordered mine for my auto they asked if it was an auto or stick. i know they are more expensive tho

i did an auto to manual swap myself on my truck and it did the same thing. I had a superchip on it at the time. I put the truck back to stock and then re-loaded the superchip and it fixed it. idk if maybe the chip had a memory stored from the auto or what the deal was but my truck acted the same way your is, rev good to 2000 and then fall on its face. if you have a chip on it you might try this. hopefully it helps

i have a spare ecm from my truck (2001 HO 6-speed) that I would lend you for testing. it is a CA truck, but Bob Wagner (smartypower.com) said that shouldn't matter. he might be able to help sort out the issue as well.

What did you end up doing to fix this? Mine's doing the same thing now after my swap.
|
i was lookin into doin the same thing on my old 02 and was told you have to have the computer to match the tranny and that on some models the vp44s are difrent from a manual to an auto tranny
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- you may also look at the turbo i know there is a dif between the way they build boost from a manual to an auto i cant remember exactly what it is but there is a difrence |
Different turbo's. Auto came with HY35's, Manual HX35's.
