apps adj
were can I find pics of the apps adjustment? want to do it have noticed a dead pedal
|
Have you scanned for codes? I would do that first.
Youll find a procedure here: https://www.dieselbombers.com/5-9l-2...s-i-bored.html Ive never seen any pics of this |
not yet it only happens every once in a while
|
scan first DO NOT play with the apps unless your 100% sure its out of wack Iv seen friends adjust there apps and cause more problems and have to replacce it.
|
The first step is to check the voltage on the APPS to be sure it is out of adjustment. If it's not then you don't have to mess with it after that.

Dead pedal is caused by 2 things... 1. APPS sensor which always throws a code! (P0121, P0122 or P0123) 2. Dieing VP44 which might or might not throw codes... If you adjust a wore out APPS you might find the voltage unstable and you might have the wrong start on the idle validation switches (2 of them!) http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/tips/c...APPSsensor.jpg |
As requested by some, here are pictures of an APPS adjustment:
First Off, this is the APPS. The black cover in the center of the picture http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/3...pslocation.jpg This is what it looks like with the black cover removed. It is held on with two plastic rivets. One on the front hiding behind the radiator hose, and the other is on top. http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/9631/insideapps.jpg With the air box removed, the PCM is visible http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/7163/controllert.jpg After squeezing the back half of the connector, the connector cover is removed. I used half a paper clip to back probe the wire and take my reading. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7342/backprobe.jpg This is my original voltage reading, as said in the instructions, I wrote that number down. http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/2...nolreading.jpg After removing the 6 - 10mm head bolts and turning the APPS, here is the sticker with the specification for voltage. http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/6263/appssticker.jpg I adjusted the APPS until the voltage at the wire matched the sticker voltage. I only loosened each of the two Torx20 head screws about 3/4 of a turn. http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/3...nalreading.jpg |
Why is everyone measuring the voltage at the PCM??? The ECM is what controls the engine and idle, etc... :humm:

Check out this web site very informative. Home

you can get a different reading at the pcm when the ecm is where you should check it Good catch Mopar1973:c: |
