heater core

a buddy of mine has a busted heater core and he wants to know if there is a easy way to fix it short of takeing off the dash

Nope...but you don't have to disconnect the AC lines. When you get there just take the square clips off and fanagle them through the firewall. Works best with two people.

I just did mine 2 weeks ago. I tipped the dash back and cut the lines at the old heater core to remove without disconecting the ac. The new core had lines that swiveled(oreilly auto), so installing the new one wasn't too bad. Total time: about 2 hours.

Never done it yet but I know this winter some time I'm going to replace my A/C evaporator so my A/C is ready for next summer... :bat:

Thanks ja mudder, I've had to get very creative over the years with a serious lack of special tools and proper work space.

While you are in there do the heater core too. Dont forget the receiver/dryer as well after opening the A/C system. I did it last summer. Took about 4 hours taking my time. Also when taking the dash down, dont forget to unhook the parking brake release rod or you will break the release latch.
