Trade your 3:73 dual rear for my 4:10 dual Rear? Or should I just Get Huge Tires?

I drive on highway very much and I really need to convert my ratio to get some better speed and mpg. Anyone out there with a 3:73 that would rather have a 4:10?

Or any Ideas for putting on huge rear rims and tires? I have a 3500 with dual rear end currently using 235/85/16 that are about a 31 inch diameter. If I get a tire with at 37 or so inch diameter it will probably do the trick But not sure with what rims to go with? what do you think?

it's 3:55;s or 4:10 in the 2nd gen. Get some 35's on it you will like lol. A gear swap would totally help you

Oversize tires will do more harm than good... Being that you'll be adding rotational mass and rolling resistance. You be much better off swapping gear out and keeping the smaller tires...

Unless your going to convert to 19.5 or 22. They will have higher load ratings and the tires will last longer al though you would still have an issue with the higher rotational mass. Not to mention they are pricey.

My rig is a 2001 single wheel with 35 12.50 16 i have 410s in mine and i cruz 70mph at 2000 rpm great for towing but its kinda booty hole if u wanna run 75 or 80

I put 4:10's in on stock rubber after selling my rig tires. The weight of them were tearing the front end apart and the ride was not very exciting.

I can get up and go like no other, but I'm spinning high R's on the highway at 75MPH....

IF i would put big rig tires I would only do it for the rear and keep the front stock. I wonder how that would affect my steering?
Also I have some booster air springs on top of my stock leafs springs to help keep ride level. They leave me with about an inch of clearance between the air spring and Rear tires. If i put big rig tires they might be too wide and rub on the air springs. I think I will just look for a new rear end gears. It sucks doing long hauls because i have to go below speed limit and let everyone pass me. Or speed up and feel like im killing my truck with 2500+ RPMS.

Hey:

I had stock 265x75x16s. Put on Dunlop Radial Rovers in 255x85x16. About a 34-35 inch tire. Tall and thin like a pizza cutter. Better traction in snow and clayey mud. You can get same size from Les Schwab for about $230 per tire. I paid about 140 each via the internet plus shipping plus mount and balance.

RPMs dropped about 500 at 75 mph. Maybe 0.5 better gas milage. Tough to say for sure, because my wife drives some of the time and on some of my highway drives I put my foot in it. No downside, and they looked good. My dealer charged me about 25 buck to recalibrate my speedo. That size would work fine for duelys.

I am pretty sure I still have room for chains on the front but did not have to use them this year on the elk hunt.
