Why RTV on the Therm housing? There is a seal on the Thermostat, I changed mine and did not used RTV, no leaks. Also wondering if you let the engine get up to operating temp when you had the rad flush in the system? If you didn't, all you have done is clean the heater core.
|
ive always put RTV on them and yes it was up to operating temperature

Just checking, I am a Heavy Equipment Technician by trade up here in Canada. I don't want anyone to do any wasted effort.

Thank DM. I need to do this as well, lol, just been too busy with work and too lazy lately. Damn cold days, ha.

I changed my 180 Tstat to the 195 for the winter. I found that for just changing the t-stat, get a siphon hose and suck out about 1/2 Gallon out of the Radiator. That way when you take off the t-stat, you don't get coolant everywhere.
That is of course if you use the current coolant and you are not doing a complete flush. |
