What you really should be concerned about is the flow. The pressure gauge is a cheap way of measuring flow. Pressure and flow are directly related in a closed system, such as our fuel delivery systems. As flow increases, pressure will drop if you dont have a good enough pump to keep the pressure up. So when you hit WOT and hold it for extended periods of time (Like I do on the highway.....) And you demand more fuel from the supply system, flow increases and if your pump is no good pressure will decrease. If you have a good supply pump, your pressure will remain constant because you are flowing enough fuel to exceed demand of your right foot.

That being said, 6psi is very bad. You need an upgraded transfer pump. I was told 10psi bare minimum. I have my supply set for 18 at a warm idle, and it never drops under 17, even if the filters get dirty!!

Xforce, It's time for a pump before you end up spending $1300+ for a new injection pump!
Dont drive your truck if you have anything below 8 PSI at any given time, the pump WILL fail.

Airdog and Fass seem to be the most popular fuel system solutions!
Feel free to give me a call or drop me a pm, I'll get ya a price!

PS, I've been told by pump shop after pump shop that over 20PSI is prone to cause VP-44 damage. I've also played with fuel pressures and seen no increase in power but me and luke might try a cool little project before long in regards to fuel pressure. We'll let everyone know how it goes!

hey my fuel pressure is at 10-12 at idle and drops to 5-6 at WOT! if this is bad should i not drive the truck like that? I would guess i need a new pump, how much do these cost? and what should i get.

I changed my fuel filter with a wix filter. Will that cause low pressure? Shold i replace it with a mopar one?

There is very little that can be done to a VP44. There are no external mechanical adjustments.
