Turbo Problems???
I am having a surging problem with my truck. I am gonna clean the IAT, MAP, and do that APPS reset and see if that does the trick. But what I have noticed is that when the truck surges, the turbo will go from 0-5psi and back down again. This is all very rapid, could this be part of the problem?

I havent seen any post about your original problem. But it seem's like you've possibly got a failing VP-44. Post your symptoms here as well and I'll see if I cant help you.
Boost is just like a PID on a scanner, It shows us whats working together and whats not working correctly. We'll need some more data to give you a somewhat accurate diagnoses. Please keep in mind, without being at the truck we cant properly diagnose it! We can all throw ideas and such at the problem but you'll have to be the eye's and ear's for the DB tech guys! |
Okay here are the the problems:
Going about 50 MPH, in5th gear (doubt the trans has anything to do with the prob), this makes it about 1900 RPM, the truck surges. Feels almost like that crapy TC dodge has in there. I know that not the problem, but thats what it feels like. Mostly going up hill, but I do feel in on flat land, the mornings the truck feels real sluggish in the 1500-2000 rpm range. Anyway when it is surging, the boost gauge is jumping no more than 5 psi from 0. It wont surge in if I have boost up, but once i come off, and just cruise at the RPM it surges. |
any error codes?
|
jonny i dont know, I have to find a scanner and check
|
does it sound like it is sputtering at all? smoke?
|
no sputtering or smoking. I was losing power awhile back, I just figured that was my clutch. I will have to take it to the mountians and see if I still have the problem when I romp on it

Whats the fuel pressure, The APPS or TPS voltage, also would be helpful to know the MAP voltage! any other codes?
|
fuel pressure is good. I dont have a full time gauge, but i checked it after this started. I do have an air dog there. How do i check the voltages? Codes, none known now, making plans to have it looked at with a scanner

My 3500 Dodge was doing something similar (highway speed bump and surge around 10 PSI boost at 2000 RPM) changed the Fuel filter and no more surging.
