Wont hurt anything. The stick trucks seem to get more turbo whistle than the auto's.

I took mine out years ago, but in the last year or so I put it back in due to the whine was hurting my ears - seems like high pitch noises are really starting to hurt the ears. I'm very careful seeing my Dad has lost all of his high frequency hearing and don't want to be like that in 20 years.

But yes, you do get more turbo noise. I once had a guy ride with me to get lunch, he actually thought there was a police/ambulance coming!!

if you have an cold air intake and take the ring out it will be much louder that the stock intake.

My Ring is MIA as well. Between the noise of the block and the MBRP duals this truck is loud no matter which way you slice it so as long as it doesn't bother you - ie hearing etc. do what you want as it does not effect performance in anyway.

If the truck is old enough and you are doing a tear down you can fill the interior panels with second skin or some other deadening material and that really helps keep the noise down from inside. Just a thought.

I was told the opposite when I was asking about mine, mechanic said if it did anything it would let the charger spool a little quicker. All I noticed is the loud wistle, which as I have gotten used to it, I don't notice nearly as much as when I first did it.

Both told wrong. Cummins doesn't provide the ring, Dodge does. It will do nothing to the system at all. No gains or reductinos.
